Dear Midrasha Families,

CHANGE YOUR CLOCKS. Daylight savings time begins on Sunday morning!!!!

+ The Seudah is finally here. It will be this Sunday, March 1416 University Ave. in Berkeley, beginning at 5 p.m. We can’t wait to see you.
-If you haven’t bought a ticket, you should know that although we are nearly sold out, we are cooking a little extra food so we can accommodate about 10-15 more people, so let the Midrasha office know if you are a last minute RSVP.
- If you can’t attend by are wishing you could contribute more to Midrasha, even in this tight economy? You can...come help with a clean up shift between 5- 10 PM, and be a part of our biggest annual fundraiser. You'll have fun and make new friends while supporting Midrasha. Please email or call the office to have us add you to the cleanup committee.
-You can still buy raffle tickets up until the drawing on Sunday during the Seudah. New gifts: “A Taste of Market Hall” gift certificates and tickets to the Jewish Music Festival. Also: Free Midrasha tuition, a weekend at Sea Ranch, a ride in a two-seat plane, fine wines, a Pilates lessons, A’s Tickets, Traveling Jewish Theatre tickets. and a set of baseball cards for Jewish major leaguers. ($5/ ticket, 4 for $18, 9 for $36, 14 for $54, 30 for $108 and 66 for $198.
-If you have said you’d help:
-Friday cooking is 9-3 at Beth Israel (1630 Bancroft)
-Sunday cooking is at Netivot Shalom. (I’m blanking on the time. Check with Jing Piser piserfam@Comcast.net)
-Sunday set up is at Netivot starting at 12:30.
-Sunday clean up starts at 5 at Netiovot.

THANK YOU to everyone for all your help on this magnificent, fun-filled event, whether it is by attending, buying raffle tickets, making a donation, or working on the event. (or in the case of many people, doing all the above!)

+ I was so pleased so see so many of you at Freedom Song last week and to see how moved you were. They would like feedback, so if you have anything to say, just e-mail it to me and I’ll pass it on.

+Parents of 8th and 9th graders, it’s time to RSVP for the April 23-25 retreat.
The RSVP process is simple:

-Complete the RSVP form and click submit

Tehiyah parents, I know your teens will be in Israel, so you don’t have to let me know they won’t be coming.

+Parents of 8th and 9th graders, next Sunday, March 21 at 9:30, Loal Isaacs will be here for about an hour to give an “Introduction to the Etgar and Gesharim Retreats.” For 8th grade parents, this will give you an idea of what to expect
at the April retreat. For 9th grade parents, this will let you know what your teens have been doing all year when they go away for the weekend. Feel free to invite any other parents of teens not at Midrasha who may want to know more about Midrasha and the retreat program.

+I have pasted in some great opportunities for teens below. They include a wonderful summer program at Brandeis University and programs and job opportunities at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in SF.

+Just in case you are an organized person, here is next year’s 2010-2011 Midrasha calendar. Write it down somewhere.

Great Opportunities:
Paid Internship for Teens at the Contemporary Jewish Museum

Applications are now available for TEEN ART CONNECT!

TEEN ART CONNECT (TAC) is a career exploration program that brings together high school students from diverse backgrounds for a year-long paid internship at the Contemporary Jewish Museum. Through workshops in presentation skills, visual literacy, art and museum education, as well as hands-on experiences in various museum departments, participants will become trained CJM visitor services staff and tour guides. The program will also expose participants to a wealth of career opportunities within the museum environment such as exhibition design and installation, art education, and public relations.

An Exciting Opportunities for Teens in your Community! __BIMA and Genesis at Brandeis University are two college level summer programs that offer talented high school students from across the globe an opportunity to become immersed in artistic study (BIMA) or intellectual discovery (Genesis). At BIMA and Genesis teens explore the relationship between their personal passions and their Jewish identity while forming life-long friendships.__Teens who spend a summer at Brandeis come back to their school and community with a passion for learning and a deeper connection to their heritage. Our participants are creative thinkers, community builders and leaders in all that they do. Sending your teens to BIMA and Genesis is an investment in the quality of your community.__Our second and final application deadline is March 22- less than three weeks away! Every year we hold places in all of our courses and majors for Round 2 applicants- but space is limited, so please encourage your teens to apply soon.__We still have a number of needs-based scholarships available to qualified students for this summer.
