Teen Programs - Yoga Art & Sacred TextAdult Programs

Teens

Yoga, Art and Sacred Text (YAST) is an experiential yoga and expressive arts class for teens to explore spirituality and Judaism. Each week teens use yoga, art, writing, meditation and text from Torah to explore the relationship between body and spirit. At the end of the 10-week session students create a life-size self-portrait based on their studies.

Students are given time and space in a safe, quiet environment to form community and to explore their Jewish spirituality in new and exciting ways. We study new material each session. The range includes literal references to the body in Torah, rabbinic commentary about the body, and mystical teachings about the relationship between body and spirit.

YAST was created initially in 2001 as a ti-ke-a project in association with Midrasha in Berkeley, and continued in subsequent years with the support of generous funding from the Richard and Rhoda Goldman Fund.

YAST workshops are now offered as requested to Jewish Teen Programs in the San Francisco Bay Area. To schedule a unique program for your teens, contact Julie at jbemden@aol.com.
